PF Chief Runnin Bear races to the win at the Colors of the Wind Maturity
For the third year in a row, PF Chief Runnin Bear came out on top at the Colors of the Wind Maturity, which took place on August 3 at Retama Park in San Antonio, Texas. For his win in the 350-yard stakes, the gelding took home $8,250.
The 2006 brown tobiano gelding by Grand Point and out of SC Running Cloud (QH) is owned by Sherry Koltiska of Lander, Wyoming, and Lynn and Betty Bettinger of Waco, Texas. Bred by Randy Davis of Vinita, Oklahoma, he is trained by Judd Kearl and was ridden by Francisco Calderon. PF Chief Running Bear clocked :18.22 for a speed index of 82. In total, the gelding has earned more than $180,000 during his career.

Im A Corona finished second by 1-½ lengths in :18.45 for a 76 speed index and $2,550 for owner Juan R. Lazano Sr. of Victoria, Texas. The 2005 solid chestnut gelding by The Corona (QH) and out of Emilys Valentine was bred by Carole Vann Stacy of Warner, Oklahoma. Alfred Aparicio trains the gelding, and Agustin Carino rode the gelding,who now has total earnings of $39,450.
Zoomin Moon came in third in :18.54, earning a 73 speed index and $1,500 for owner and breeder Wendell Blankenship of Plainview, Texas. The 2010 gray solid mare by Shazoom (QH) and out of Moonpie Marauder is trained by Gary Jacobs, and she had Luis Vivanco was in the irons for the race. She now has lifetime earnings exceeding $20,000.
